Frozen Iceland & Winter Aurora
Búðir, Snæfellsbær, Iceland
Iceland in winter is an unbelievable land of light and drama with frozen waterfalls, ice caves, Northern Lights and spectacular landscapes. This very special 12-day workshop will transport you around Ring Road for an unmatched Icelandic photo adventure while improving your photography skills both behind the camera and with processing. Imagine the wonders you will photograph as we travel through the diverse Lake Mývatn region, the remote East Fjords, as well as a wealth of glaciers, volcanoes, hot-spring areas and waterfalls and of course, the Glacier Lagoon. This tour is conducted with Jennifer King and a local esteemed photo-guide, who know the iconic shooting locations (as well as many lesser-known spots) where you can capture unique images of the Icelandic nature far from any crowds. We are also experts in locating and capturing the aurora borealis. Whether you are an amateur photographer merely seeking to improve your skills, or a advanced photographer aspiring to greatness, this tour will be an immeasurable experience, both in what you will learn and in how much your portfolio will expand. Do not miss your chance to photograph frozen waterfalls with dancing Northern Lights of Iceland!

Trans Allegheny Asylum Workshop
Weston, West Virginia, United States
Challenge your creativity with a private photo workshop at the dilapidated Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Once home to patients and turn-of-the-century medical practices, this building served the mentally insane beginning in 1862. The building, mostly left in ruins, leaves a paradise for photographers to explore patterns, textures, windows and all the things left behind that visually depict an era gone by. Join us for this intense 3-day workshop with private access and alternative processing. Photographing outside of your element is the best way to challenge your creativity and become a better photographer with the subjects you love best. I have always said if you have become satisfied with your work, it’s time to shake things up a little and try something new. We will have model stations set up for photography so that you can rotate between sets. If you prefer to photograph only buildings, that is completely fine. Trans Allegheny has multiple buildings and there is plenty of room to spread out.

Capitol Reef & The Badlands of Utah
Hanksville, Utah, United States
The Badlands of Utah are host to some of the most raw, rugged and unique landscapes in this country! Next door is Capitol Reef National Park. This smaller, less traveled park has immense beauty highlighted with colors of autumn. This location is far from most traveled areas of Utah, but has beautiful mesas, rock formations and slot canyons to explore. This provides us an opportunity for dramatic sunrises and sunsets, as well as abstract photography, and a chance to explore what will someday become a booming area.

CLASSIC Great Migration African Safari
, Kajiado County, Kenya
We are happy to announce our 2025 safari, located in the heart of Kenya. Amboselli National Park, the Maasai Mara, and Mara North Conservancy are the most sought after locations for wildlife photographing. We begin our adventure in Amboseli National Park with large herds of elephants, big cats, and the Maasai giraffe, all with the backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, and then will explore the heart of the Mara Conservancy. This location is famous for the filming of National Geographic documentaries and the BBC Big Cat Diaries. We’ll round out our adventure with a stay in Maasai Mara, the heart of the great migration. The Maasai Mara and Northern Mara have the largest population of wildlife for the yearly Great Migration. The migration hosts millions of animals - these animals follow the Mara River during their winter months (late July through September). As the water rises the wildlife have a natural inclination to cross the river, sometimes more than once a day. The migration draws the wildebeest and zebra throughout the plains and this increase in prey draws the crowds of lions, cheetahs and leopards. During our stay, we will have the opportunity to visit and learn from the ancient tribes of the Maasai Mara. We will visit a local village to learn their tradition and culture. Also, many of the staff at our Mara camps are authentic Maasai Mara villagers and warriors. Learning about and sharing time with the local tribes has always been one of the highlights of our safaris. At JKPW, we believe that immersion is the best African Safari experience possible. Watching and photographing the big cats is an unforgettable experience. Getting to know the locals - how they live, along with their local historic dress and traditions - creates an experience that one can only live.
