For seven years, I have led black-and-white workshops in remarkable locations around the world, helping photographers develop a stronger artistic vision and create inspiring results. In 2027, we return to Death Valley National Park, where the diverse landscape provides an ideal environment for learning to see beyond color. Black-and-white photography is more than converting a color image or using a filter to rescue a photograph that is not working. It begins in the field—with the intention of creating in black and white. You will learn how to photograph the light, recognize the tones, textures, shapes, and contrasts that create compelling images, and bring your vision to life through thoughtful processing techniques. This immersive workshop is creative, challenging, fun, and deeply rewarding.
South Carolina Photo Workshop: Coastal Landscapes, Cypress Swamps & Gardens

Bosque and White Sands

Bosque del Apache in New Mexico is one of the best places in the world to photograph sandhill cranes. The cranes fly into Bosque’s “Crane Ponds” each afternoon, sometimes silhouetted on a blood red sky. This is the perfect time to photograph the birds parachuting into the ponds…..they look like they are suspended in air. During the morning first light, the Bosque “blast off” provides the chance to shoot thousands of snow geese all taking off at once.
Antarctica Photo Expedition

Alaska Black Bears
August 7–13, 2028
Wrangell, Alaska, United States
Join Tom and Cree in Wrangell, Alaska to photograph black bears feasting on pink salmon in the rainforest. We will photograph bears for at least two full days at the Anan Wilderness Area. On other days we will look for marine animals like Sea Otters, Stellar’s Sealions, Humpback Whales and Harbor Seals. We explore the towns of Wrangell and Petersburg and visit one of the most active tidewater glaciers in Alaska, the dazzling blue LeConte Glacier. If the weather is clear, we will eat on the outdoor deck by our hotel and wait for bright orange sunsets to light up the distant islands.
Yellowstone in Winter 2027

Feb 18-24th 2027 Experience Yellowstone at its wildest during winter, when snow-covered landscapes, steaming geysers, and wildlife create extraordinary photographic opportunities. This small-group photography adventure combines two days exploring Yellowstone’s interior by private snowcoach with dedicated wildlife photography in a private AWD vehicle. Designed for photographers of all skill levels, the tour includes pre-workshop training, personalized instruction, lodging, transportation, park fees, meals, and loaner camera gear. Photograph bison, elk, foxes, coyotes, winter landscapes, and geothermal features while learning techniques for wildlife photography, exposure in snow, and winter composition.
