Bears of Lake Clark

This is our most popular bear destination in Alaska. We fly from Anchorage in a small plane to our comfortable lodge in Lake Clark National Park to photograph coastal brown bears and their spring cubs. This time of year they graze on sedge grasses and dig for clams on the mudflats. The bear density in this area is remarkable. We will also photograph Horned Puffins on a nearby island and search for Trumpeter Swans on local lakes.

Egypt Photography Workshop – Landmarks & Life on the Nile

For 2027, the Egypt tour returns re-imagined around the most photogenic way to experience the Nile: a private, exclusively-chartered Dahabiya! Where the standard Egypt cruise circuit moves you through the river in a floating hotel alongside hundreds of other travelers, a Dahabiya is a traditional twin-masted sailboat with a handful of cabins, a shallow draft, and the freedom to moor wherever the light is best. Our group is capped at just 6 to 8 photographers, so every temple, every sandbank, and every rooftop is worked at an unhurried pace, with time to wait for the shot rather than move on to keep the group together. Beyond the exclusivity of the vessel, this remains a tour built day by day around light and composition. From sunrise over the Giza Plateau to golden hour drifting past riverside villages between Edfu and Aswan, each stop is scheduled for when the location photographs best, not simply when it's open. Evenings aboard bring open sundecks for reviewing the day's frames, uncrowded night skies far from Cairo's glow, and a level of comfort and service, full-board dining, air conditioning, and modern cabins that a standard multi-deck cruise ship, built for volume rather than intimacy, cannot match.
Texas Songbirds and Raptors

Come join us for warm weather bird photography from the amazing Laguna Seca Ranch in South Texas. We are going in February when the largest number of raptors congregate at the ranch. It is possible to see more than 50 Crested Caracaras, Turkey Vultures, Black Vultures gathered at one time. In addition we regularly see Harris Hawks and White-tailed Hawks at the ranch. With so many raptors in one place, it is easy to photograph interactions between raptors and even species of raptors. Because of their larger size, raptors are more easy to photograph than some of the faster, smaller songbirds.

Every fall in Haines, Alaska bald eagles congregate along the Chilkat River. A fall salmon run attracts these magnificent birds, resulting in the largest gathering of bald eagles in the world. Their numbers are staggering. More than 3000 eagles arrive, and it is not uncommon to have hundreds of birds in trees across the river. This is a bucket list trip for wildlife photographers. Imagine listening to the constant chattering of bald eagles while viewing multiple birds in your camera viewfinder feasting on salmon. Amazing!

Jeff and Angie Birmingham are a husband and wife team who have been traveling the globe together from the time they met, jumping at every opportunity to capture the beauty of nature and all it has to offer. The images they capture are all about the outdoors, and each image tells a story in natural landscapes, many with local or exotic wildlife, epic or intimate. Based in South Texas, Jeff and Angie just happen to live in one of the birdiest areas in the United States, which is also home to an abundance of native wildlife, including whitetail deer, javelinas, and armadillos. Robin lives near the harbour in Sydney (with Tim) and came to photography a few years ago as a way of decompressing from a stressful other career. She strives in her photography to always find the lighter side of life. Being out in nature, getting grubby in the dirt or waiting for hours in the hot sun or freezing cold; it’s all a metaphor for being able to immerse herself deep into another world. Animals with their unpredictability, and their ability to make her laugh out loud, are her passion. She hopes her work conveys that joy. Im Scott, born in London, England and now living in the magical South Island of New Zealand. A love of capturing New Zealand’s stunning landscapes prompted Meghan to give up a corporate accountant role to become a full-time landscape photographer and educator.
